I put your work into words.

As a business owner, you may feel hamstrung by the rolling need for more content—re-mastered web pages, new brochures, fresh blog posts and emails—but don’t know how to farm it out or who to trust.

Especially if you're not a writer.

Especially if you run a business built on deep values. It means you have an extra investment in the way the words on your platform represent your work.

You don’t own your business from a distance. You breathe your work. You care about the impact your business has on your employees and your community.

At the same time, you’re juggling other commitments. You may be a partner, parent, or caregiver. Not to mention a neighbor, community builder, and citizen.

Trying to create content while running a business and a life can feel like a faraway dream.

For almost a decade, I’ve written about businesses and institutions that are making a difference. It’s satisfying to write magazine articles and online stories about people and companies I believe in.

But writing for them has given me a bigger job to do. I discovered the power of crafting business messages and writing stories that help conscious companies expand so they can do even more good work.

I do that by:

  • helping companies find a clear front page message that crystallizes their work and reaches the right audience,

  • writing clean web copy that effortlessly communicates the work, values, and vision of companies that specialize in positive, life-changing, or essential services and products, and

  • becoming a member of a team, filling company blogs, brochures, social pages, and customer inboxes with high-quality content that establishes them as a positive industry leader and a source for indispensable goods.

To help you bridge the gap between your marketing dreams and your time-limited reality, I can step in to help you get your site done and your ongoing content planned, written, and edited on time so you can get back to the core of your work.

Let’s talk. I’d love to help craft your business message and create language that will make your work sing.

A little about me

Now that you know what I do, you’re probably wondering who I am.

My name is Jennifer Crain. My friends call me Jenni. I live and write on the beautiful homelands of the Nisqually, Cowlitz, Squaxin, and other Coast Salish peoples in what is colonially known as Olympia, Washington.

As a food writer for more than a decade, I wrote profiles of growers and retailers who are part of the good food movement: people like mushroom and snail farmers, specialty foods retailers, and leaders in institutional food delivery.

The more I interviewed and learned and wrote, the more I fell in love with the entrepreneurs and big thinkers I was writing about.

That got me thinking about how I could do more to elevate the work of not only good food people, but of conscious companies and community-based organizations everywhere.

So I became a copywriter, a role that combines my love for crafting clear language and my respect for small businesses and nonprofits.

On the personal side:

My husband and I have two kids who like to bake, skateboard, bike, draw, and watch The Good Place with us. We also have a white rescue dog who's scared of hardwood floors and likes to harvest raspberries straight off the backyard bushes. We also grow lots of herbs (they’re reliable). I’m energized by big cities and long walks. Good fiction is a must.
